About FranChild™HistoryIt started after Patrick and Joe Williams (ages 8 and 6) began their hand-rolled beeswax candle business to supplement their weekly allowance. In their first month, the boys realized a few hundred dollars in sales – mainly selling multiple candles at wholesale prices to area businesses for resale. The big break was a $400 order from a local nature center that had a bee exibit - and felt the beeswax candles made a nice addition to their gift shop. The $125 profit they each realized that month would have taken over 10 months to earn as allowance – yet they were only allowed to work on candles for about 10-15 minutes a day to complete their orders. In the process of making and selling candles, Patrick and Joe learned much about business – quality control, manufacturing, asking for the sale, business etiquette, marketing and of course, profit. While profit is the ultimate goal in any business, Patrick and Joe gained amazing confidence in the process of owning and operating their very own business. They set clear goals of things they wanted to buy and they understood what they needed to do in order to get it. Additionally, the boys continue to donate the first 10% of their profits to church, and more to area non-profit organizations and even their school. This has given them a sense of social responsibility and gratitude. So one day, Patrick says, “Hey, Dad, wouldn’t it be great if other friends around the country could have a business like ours so they could earn more allowance, too?” With that question – FranChild was born. Making it easy for parentsFrom an investment standpoint – FranChild is a really good deal. If you started any one of these businesses, it would take weeks or months to perfect the process, and hundreds if not more dollars to create logos, find suppliers, develop websites, create packaging, test wicks for candles and all the little things that make a business successful. Another great feature of FranChild is the purchasing power it gives to kids. Typically to get the pricing that FranChild offers, a wholesale customer would have to already be established with a resale tax account, and still would be subject to minimum orders of at least $150, and a lot higher to get the pricing FranChild offers. That’s a lot of money for kids and their parents, so FranChild plays a key role in reducing that risk. Simply put – FranChild is a story about a Dad and Mom helping their kids learn about business by giving their kids the opportunity to have one, and sharing that knowledge and success formula with anybody who wants to do the same thing for their child. Thank you for your interest, and congratulations on your decision to get started with one of the FranChild businesses available for your child. Ralph Williams FranChild, LLC |
